Manuscript submission has been closed.
Only abstracts selected for presentation (oral or poster) at the 57th Congress of the Japanese Society of Pediatric Surgeons (JSPS), may be submitted as manuscripts for possible publication in the JSPS issue of Pediatric Surgery International (PSI).
Rules for Submission of Manuscripts
- Manuscripts for new abstracts and abstracts presented previously elsewhere (see rule 4) but not published are eligible for submission for possible publication in the JSPS issue of PSI provided they were selected for presentation at the 57th Congress of the JSPS.
- Only abstracts presented at the 57th Congress of the JSPS are eligible. An abstract that was accepted but not presented is not eligible.
- Multiple submissions are strictly prohibited.
- Abstracts that were presented at past JSPS congresses are not eligible for submission.
- A JSPS PSI Prize will be awarded to a manuscript selected from manuscripts marked specifically as a candidate for the JSPS prize. If you wish to apply for the prize, “Application for the JSPS Prize” must be written clearly in red in the cover letter for the manuscript. please indicate “apply for the JSPS Prize” in red ink or in red font in a cover letter.
- All documentation must be submitted ELECTRONICALLY to the JSPS Issue Publication Committee office.
- All decisions for publication will be determined by the Publication Committee and will be final.
- Manuscripts that DO NOT follow the guidelines and format for submission for publication to Pediatric Surgery International will be REJECTED for review by the JSPS Issue Publication Committee office.
- Manuscripts in English from non-native English speakers must be submitted with a certificate stating that the manuscript was checked and proof-read by a native English speaker. Manuscripts from Japanese authors must also have this certificate.
- Manuscripts and supporting documents are to be submitted to the JSPS Issue Publication Committee office using BOTH the following e-mail addresses:
- Upon successful submission, you will receive one e-mail from each of the addresses above, confirming that your submission to the Publications Committee office was successful. If you do not receive a confirmation e-mail within 5 working days, please contact the Publication Committee office using both the e-mail addresses provided.

A submission MUST include SEPARATE files for:
(1) Cover letterInclude “application for JSPS Prize” in red if appropriate.
(2) Manuscript text
(3) Blinded Manuscript textWithout author names and affiliations and any mention of institutions in the “Materials and Methods” section. Names should NOT be mentioned, since all manuscripts will be reviewed BLIND. All personal details, institutional names, and affiliations will be restored upon acceptance for publication.
(4) Tables/Artwork/Figures.
- Each figure/table should be sent as a separate file, e.g. 3 figures = 3 separate files.
- Figures must be in JPEG or TIFF format. Do not embed figures into MS Word. Each figure should have a concise caption describing accurately what the figure depicts. Include the captions in the manuscript text file as Figure Legends, not as captions with each individual figure.
- Use the table function in MS Word, not spreadsheets (i.e. MS Excel), to make tables. For each table, please supply a title explaining the components of the table.
